The Salon and Spa
With a focus on providing the most effective blend of handmade, organic, and standard products, Iðunn Salon and Spa is poised to meet the ever changing needs of its clientele. What sets us apart is our focus on handmade treatments. Unlike other salons and spas, Idunn has a full kitchen, where we prepare our skin masks every week with seasonal produce and fresh herbs. We also prepare in-house protein conditioning treatments for hair as well as the tamarind cuticle and callous remover and the scrubs and wraps used in our nail services. Hot compresses used for massage are made with fresh herbs from our window garden. We strive to use locally sourced and organic ingredients whenever possible but also use whole ingredients from around the world to provide the ultimate service. Like us on Facebook to see our newest skin masks and seasonal nail treatments!
In addition to our in-house prepared treatments, we offer organic and standard product lines, including skin care by Uspa and hair styling products by Onesta and Evo. All nail treatments are organic and entirely edible, except the nail polish itself, Zoya, which, is touline-, formaldehyde-, and camphor-free. Because organic hair dyes and wax, as of now, do not offer results that meet our critical standards, we currently offer low-ammonia Italy hair dyes and Ceripil wax.
Andrew Volkmann, Owner/Cosmetologist
Andrew has worked in the beauty industry for over twenty years in salons ranging from forty chairs to three. After working in a mid-sized day spa for thirteen years, providing innovative cuts, hair colors, and superior manicures and pedicures, he decided it was time to venture into new directions by opening a co-owned studio. Many Queen Anne residents will be familiar with his dogs and the extensive wardrobe they sport in the winter months, all hand patterned and stitched by Andrew. This reflects his sense of pride in handcraft and creativity that is an integral part of the salon and spa. In the salon, he presents his growing interest in farm to table cooking through his custom-blended products for hair treatments, manicures, and pedicures.
Erin O’Connell, Cosmetologist
Erin O'Connell has held her cosmetology license since 2011, after studying at Mitsu Sato in Kansas. To further her knowledge and skill, she undertook advanced training on cutting at Vidal Sassoon in Santa Monica. She holds a license in two states: Kaas and Washington, where she moved in 2014. She loves every aspect of cutting hair, but finds the most joy in color of all kinds (bold, natural, and blonde), precision cuts, and extensions. When she’s not hard at work making her clients look fantastic, she enjoys swimming and taking her two miniature pinschers, Kiwi and Flapjack, for walks in the park.
Jennifer Bennet, Esthitician
Moving from New Hampsire in 2002, Jennifer found her passion in skin care and became a licensed esthitician in 2007. She creates a warm and secure environment that allows her client's proffessional needs to be met, and be certain that they feel refreshed when they leave. Her goal is to help educate them and make them look and feel their best. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling (when possible), and surrounding herself with family and friends.
